I've only been in a couple of real food fights in my life. The best one was in Master's in our singlewide (yes, we lived in a singlewide). Something having to do with chocolate cake and... well, I won't go into it. This short film by Stefan Nadelman trumps them all though. The filmmaker presents a brief history of war, from WWII to present day, told through the foods of the countries in conflict.
Watching brought an internal conflict of my own. This incredibly creative if not disconcerting short is hilarious and yet events portrayed are anything but. As my good friend Steven pointed out... it's food so there's no one to get angry with. I must say that the Cold War buildup was my favorite.
Watch below and see how many countries and conflicts you can identify first. Then head on over to the official site and take a look at the cheat sheet. How'd you do?
Disclaimer #2 for the day: As odd as it sounds being just food and all... this film is a bit graphic so consider yourself warned.

Push Once for Espresso
I love coffee (although I'm cutting back a bit). I especially love Illy coffee from Italy. Thanks again to Jim Rudolph for introducing me. Well, if you happen to be in New York, you must visit the Time Warner Center where the Illy cafe' will be showcased November 29-December 29th.
This little prefab cafe' opens up in 90-seconds with just a push of a button. As you can see, the rough aluminum walls unfold to reveal a surprisingly refined interior. I think our church really needs one of these.

We Are What We Do
Came across a site tonight... www.wearewhatwedo.com. The whole idea behind the site is that there are simple, everyday actions that can change the world.
Recycle waste paper...
Don't be an ideas killer...
Enjoy a Fairtrade brew...
Praise people...
Remember people's names...
Practice good manners...
Say thanks...
If you've been reading DanisLinus at all, you know I've been digging into Romans again. Had a great lunch with my good friend, Shaylon (BTW, he's started his own blog) and we were talking about how Paul rapid-fires off a list of ways to live... Simple, everyday actions that can change the world. I'm thinking Romans is a bit more powerful, so check that out first... but visit www.wearewhatwedo.com anyway.
Shaylon... thanks for the pound of Guatemalan from Primavera.

Coke and illy
I haven't had a soda in years but I drink way too much coffee. Jim Rudolph turned me on to some of the best coffee in the world... illy. You can get it at most grocery stores but when I drink it, I get mine at Sal Platerotti's. Anyway... Coke and illy are teaming up to produce a Ready-to-Drink coffee. Sounds yummy... Here's a bite from the news release...
"The Coca-Cola Company and illycaffè SpA today announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a global joint venture focused on the premium ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee segment leveraging illy's world class expertise in the art of the espresso to capture opportunities in this high growth, profitable beverage category with new brands and products. What kind of coffee do you like best?
The RTD coffee category globally is valued at just under $10 billion and has experienced several years of growth that is expected to continue. Globally (excluding Japan), the ready-to-drink coffee category has grown at an average rate of 10.1% over the past five years."

Catalyst - Session 000
I skipped a bunch of sessions... When you come to things like this, you have to process. You have to allow the Holy Spirit to do what he wants in you. I'm not here to try and drink from the fire hose as it were. I'm not trying to get as much content as I can, as fast as I can... I'd rather get what God wants me to get. No guilt... no feeling like a kids skipping class. Just listening... and drinking some good coffee from Rwanda.

Catalyst - Session 005
The last session was with a Nigerian pastor who leads a church of just under 100,000 people in Kiev, Ukraine. His name is Sunday Adelaja and the name of his church is... (drumroll) the Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations.
He spoke on the seven spheres of influence and how the church has only tried to operate in one sphere... the religion/spiritual sphere. That's why no one is listening. We must move and have the influence God calls us to in others spheres of influence in our society such as government, schools, media and entertainment, sports, business and finance... Only then will we truly be able to engage culture and begin to change it.Then we went to a restaurant in downtown Atlanta called Pittypat's Porch. Great southern cooking... fried chicken and ribs. The name of the place stems from Gone With the Wind. You should get it from Blockbuster sometime. It was great to get to hang with Michelle and Steven. I just wish Maria were here.
Anyway... it's been a good day. Check out more pics...
